Is IT Green E-learning Course Introduction
The Is IT Green e-learning course is designed to help the ICT professionals – ICT managers and ICT experts, as well as SMEs managers and owners to learn how to use increased opportunities to practically implement information technologies in order to reduce energy use in companies and to improve energy efficiency.
The Is IT Green e-learning course aims to address two general problems:
- How companies can purchase/use/dispose ICT technologies in more Green and energy efficient way;
- How ICT can optimize general company Energy Efficiency;
Information technologies allow companies not only to reduce energy consumption but as well to redefine its core business processes and make ICT from cost-based to profit-generating business activity. Thus latest advances in ICT technologies, concerning data centres energy use reduction, Internet of things and how it enhance energy efficiency in different businesses and business processes and smart buildings. The substantial part of the e-learning materials is based on the Energy-Wise course.
The e-learning course content is divided on 10 main learning units that can be generally grouped around 3 Green ICT focused modules:
Module 1 – Green ICT professionals
Module 1 is designed to enable ICT professionals (ICT managers/ICT experts) to improve company energy efficiency, implementing innovative ICT measuring/monitoring devices. They can perform better energy audits inside companies and can develop and implement Is IT Green policy.
Module 2 – Green SMEs
Module 2 provides the general steps that companies can perform to implement on practice GREEN ICT. The learning units provide practical insights how companies can mobilise resources and motivate staff, where to start and what are the steps to optimise company energy efficiency with Is IT Green.
Module 3 – Green ICT
Module 3 makes an overview of the last developments of green ICT, concerning energy efficiency strategies for Data Centres, data virtualisation, last developments and examples of Internet of Things technologies and Green potential of the Smart buildings.
In plus we developed few learning paths, enabling end-users to better organise their on-the-job training. Learning units can be used as well as stand-alone learning materials, defined in terms of learning objectives and according to the ECVET system for Vocational education and training. Every learning unit is composed of theoretical parts and practical tools that can be implemented according to the needs of the companies. There is provided a short quiz following every chapter, allowing end-users to test their knowledge on learning topics.
Besides the e-learning content, provided in the 10 units there will be provided additional materials grouped inside learning paths, case study and Q&A, that will enhance further understanding and adoption of Green ICT in companies.
